Both teams are part of the Applied Dynamics Initiative non-profit family of STEAM Education programs who’s mission is: “To spark an interest and nurture a passion in students for participation in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Entrepreneurship, Arts & Mathematics.” We accomplish this mission via educational classes and extracurricular activities with a heavy emphasis on robotics while participating in the FIRST Inspires family of programs, FIRST Lego League, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition. The famous saying of the founder of FIRST Inspires, Dean Kamen is “This is the only sport where every student can go professional.”. Another saying we love is that “Kids build robots, Robots build kids!”.
A.S.T.R.O. in A.S.T.R.O. Vikings stands for Alamogordo, Science, Technology, Robotics, and Outreach. A.S.T.R.O. Vikings 23974 are a first year rookie team to FTC but have been participating in FLL and FRC for years including thousands of hours of outreach to their community and a huge impact on the lives of countless New Mexico students.
ENIGMA 16265 is a 5th year veteran team and are 4 time New Mexico State Championship Winning Alliance Captains winner and 2022 New Mexico State Championship Inspire Award winner earning a trip the World Championship. In these 5 years we’ve been ranked as high as 54th in the world and in this season sit at 98th out roughly 8000 registered teams. We are so excited to get another chance to compete at The World Championship. It is an experience for these students like none other.
We practice Gracious Professionalism and Coopertition.
